The core safety tests mandated by UL 1642, IEC 62133, GB 31241 and UN 38.3 include: external short circuit, thermal abuse (heating to 130–150°C), crush, nail penetration/drop, overcharge, forced discharge, low pressure (altitude) and mechanical vibration. VoltTest safety test chambers cover all these test items.
VoltTest safety test chambers are designed to comply with UL 1642, IEC 62133-2, GB 31241, GB/T 31485, UN 38.3 and SAE J246. Each chamber's test parameters (force, temperature, current, duration) can be configured to meet the specific clauses of the target standard.
No single chamber performs all tests, as different tests require fundamentally different mechanisms (crush press, nail penetration, thermal oven, short circuit switch). VoltTest offers individual test stations for each abuse test type, and complete safety test laboratory packages that include all required equipment.
VoltTest thermal abuse chambers reach up to 200°C for IEC 62133 and GB 31241 thermal abuse tests (typically 130°C ± 2°C for 30 minutes). The chambers include precise temperature control, fume extraction and blast-rated observation windows for operator safety.
The VoltTest short circuit tester applies a low-resistance connection (<5 mΩ) across the cell terminals with configurable current limiting up to 10 kA. It includes a contactor, shunt resistor for current measurement, thermal fuse protection and a blast enclosure with fume extraction for safe operation.
