The VT-CDS series is VoltTest's flagship battery cycler family. Each channel runs independently with CC, CV, CP and CR modes, making it the ideal battery testing equipment for cycle life studies, rate capability tests, calendar aging and battery modelling.

A battery cycler (also called a charge/discharge test system) is a precision instrument that repeatedly charges and discharges a battery cell between defined voltage and current limits to measure capacity, cycle life, internal resistance changes and performance degradation over time. It is the core instrument in any battery testing laboratory.
For R&D and cell qualification, ±0.05% FS (full-scale) accuracy on both voltage and current is the industry standard for reliable cycle life data. For production QC, ±0.1% FS is typically sufficient. VoltTest VT-CDS series cyclers deliver ±0.05% FS using 16-bit ADCs and four-wire Kelvin sensing.
For R&D: 8–16 channels is typical for parallel testing of multiple cell variants. For production incoming inspection: 32–128 channels depending on throughput targets. For formation and grading: 256–1024 channels per system. Each VoltTest rack holds 8–32 independent channels and systems are expandable.
Yes. VoltTest cyclers support all lithium-based chemistries including NMC, LFP, LTO, sodium-ion and solid-state cells. The key requirement is matching the voltage range (solid-state cells may have different cutoff voltages) and current requirements to the appropriate VT-CDS model. Our engineers can recommend the right configuration for your chemistry.
Every VT-CDS system includes VoltTest Studio software for graphical test programming, real-time monitoring, cycle statistics, data export (CSV/SQL) and MES/ERP integration. The software supports custom test protocols, automatic grading criteria and multi-channel batch control.
During discharge, instead of dissipating energy as heat in a resistor, the regenerative circuit converts the battery's discharge energy back into AC power and feeds it to the grid. VoltTest cyclers recover ≥90% of discharge energy, reducing both heat load and electricity cost by up to 60% in high-throughput labs.
